Clusters & Decision-Making

Single cues lie; clusters tell the truth. And the most common failure left of bang isn't seeing — it's freezing.

No single behavior means much on its own. Crossed arms might be cold, closed-off, or comfortable. A cluster — arms crossed, blading away, scanning exits, jaw set — tells a far more reliable story. Read combinations, not isolated tells.

The other half of the problem is decision-making. Most people who fail to act left of bang did notice something was wrong; they hesitated, doubted themselves, or waited for a certainty that never comes. This is 'the freeze.'

Pre-deciding your responses removes the freeze. If you've already decided 'three indicators and I leave,' the decision is made before the pressure arrives. Observation only matters if it ends in action.

Key indicators

  • Judge clusters of cues, never a single behavior
  • 'The freeze' — hesitation — is the most common failure mode
  • Pre-decide your actions so the choice is made before the moment
